Arch-Rivals Collide in 'Purple Haze' Saturday in Ramsey

Cullowhee, N.C. - Mountain arch-rivals Western Carolina and Appalachian State collide on the men's basketball hardwood Saturday afternoon amidst a `purple haze' in the Ramsey Center. Fans are encouraged to wear purple as the Catamounts and Mountaineers meet for the 174th time in the longest basketball series for either school. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.

Winners of three-straight, Western Carolina (7-10, 3-2 SoCon) looks to halt a three-game slide to the Mountaineers after dropping both seasonal meetings a year ago. WCU scored a road win over Georgia Southern to end a six-game slide before securing home wins over Davidson and Elon this past week. The Catamounts have averaged over 77 points per game in their recent trio of wins and will need a repeat performance against ASU which enters the game ranked second in the SoCon in scoring offense (75.4 ppg).
