Six on All-Southern Conference Teams

WCU's 2016 list is headlined by junior first baseman Matt Smith who garnered first team All-SoCon plaudits from both the league's head and the SoCon Sports Media Association (SCSMA). Senior catcher Danny Bermudez and redshirt junior outfielder Bryson Bowman were selected to the second team all-conference in both the coaches & media, while seniors Colton Davis and Kramer Ferrell were honored on the coaches' second team. Freshman Andrew Bullock was selected to the 12-member All-Freshman team as voted on by the league head coaches.

Western wins Top Adventure College for third year

WESTERN CAROLINA UNIVERSITY WINS TOP ADVENTURE COLLEGE CONTEST FOR THIRD YEAR IN A ROW




Solidifying its growing reputation as one of best outdoor schools in the Blue Ridge, Western Carolina University has once again come away with top honors in our annual Top Adventure College Contest, edging out a solid effort from Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia.

Bullock named SoCon Baseball Player of the Week

Western Carolina's Andrew Bullock has been named the Southern Conference player of the week, for all games May 9-15.

Bullock hit .545, slugged 1.455 and had an on-base percentage of .688 as the Catamounts took on Georgia and won a series from league-leading UNCG last week.

Bullock hit three home runs and a double, drew five walks, scored five runs and recorded seven RBIs. He opened the series Friday against UNCG by reaching base four times, drawing two walks and hitting a first-inning single and a three-run homer in the fifth as the Catamounts won 8-5. The next day, the Chesapeake, Va., native was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and four runs scored, hitting two more home runs and a double as WCU clinched the series with a 19-8 win. Bullock was on base three more times Sunday, walking twice and hitting an RBI single in the ninth.
