Four conference games are on tap for Monday evening, with some very interesting match-ups. Both The Citadel and Mercer have the night off.
Chattanooga (13-3, 2-1 SoCon) at Wofford (6-9, 3-0) 6 pm ESPN3
Monday's premier game has the preseason number one Chattanooga Mocs traveling to Spartanburg to meet the defending champions, Wofford Terriers. The Mocs are coming off their first conference loss of the season, a 55-70 loss to the Furman Paladins, while the Terriers are on a three game conference winning streak. The Mocs are 4-3 in road games, while the current conference leading Terriers are 4-1 defending the home court at the BenJo. Last season the two teams split, with each winning on the road. That trend continues as the Mocs win by 7.
VMI (5-9, 0-3 SoCon) at ETSU (9-6, 2-0 SoCon) 6 pm ESPN3
The VMI Keydets travel to Johnson City to face the ETSU Bucs in the Freedom Center. The Bucs are one of only two teams without a conference loss, and are 6-1 on the home court, while the Keydets are winless in conference play, and are 1-7 in road games this season. The Bucs are in a four game winning streak, while the Keydets are on a 3 game skid. Look for the Keydets woes to continue, as the Bucs win by 14.
Samford (10-6, 1-2 SoCon) at Furman (8-8, 2-1 SoCon) 6 pm ESPN3
Two of the more unpredictable teams this season in the SoCon face each other as the Bullldogs travel to Greenville to meet the Paladins. The Bulldogs are 4-5 in road games this season, while the Paladins are 6-1 defending the home floor in Timmons Arena where they beat the preseason favorite Mocs on Saturday. This will be a close game, but we think the Paladins win by 3.
UNCG (5-11, 1-2 SoCon) at Western Carolina (6-9, 1-1 SoCon) 7 pm ASN
The Cats end their four game home stand as the UNCG Spartans travel to Cullowhee to meet Western in the Ramsey Center. The Spartans are 0-9 this season in road games, while the Cats are 6-1 in the Ramsey Center. The Spartans are a dangerous team, having knocked off Furman in Greensboro, a team that just beat preseason favorite Chattanooga. Look for the Cats to win by 7.
