Western Carolina women's soccer kicked off the 2013 campaign on Aug 7th with their first preseason practice of 2013.
The Catamounts return 20 players from the 2012 squad, including five seniors and 10 juniors. The Cats also welcome 10 newcomers to the squad, nine freshmen and a sophomore transfer.

2012 (Sophomore): Played in 18 matches and started 14 ... Scored two goals and recorded four points ... Took 24 shots, 10 on goal.
2011 (Freshman): Played in seven matches.
High School: Has excelled in various sports throughout her high school career ... Aside from soccer, she ran cross country, played basketball, and was a a kicker on the football team ... For the past three years, she has been captain for the varsity soccer team and made All-Conference ... She made the All Region team and All-Area soccer in 2008 and 2009, was voted team MVP `08, `09, and `10, and was All Conference Player of the Year this past year ... Also made the All Tournament team for basketball three years in a row and All Conference in 2010 ... For cross country, she won Runner of the Year for both 2009 and 2010, placed 15th at 1A State Finals in 2009 and 19th on 2010, along with Conference Runner of the Year in 2010. ... Named All-Area Honorable Mention as a kicker for her high school football team.
Personal: Daughter of Scott and Veronica Hallstrom ... Academically, Hallstrom was ranked seventh in her class and had a 3.64 GPA in high school ...Plans on majoring in Exercise Science at WCU.
