The Road to Asheville (Jan 21, 2016)




Four conference games are on tap for Thursday evening, with some very interesting match-ups. Both Furman and Wofford have the night off.




Mercer (14-4, 4-1 Southern) at ETSU (11-7, 4-1 Southern)  7 pm   ESPN3
The two teams currently tied for second place in the SoCon meet in Johnson City as the Bears meet the Bucs in Freedom Hall.  The Bears are 3-4 on the road this season, while the Bucs are 7-1 defending the home court. Mercer brings a 3 game winning streak to the contest, while ETSU is coming off a 10 point loss to Chattanooga.  The Bucs bounce back and win by 5 points.

Samford (11-8, 2-4 Southern)  at  VMI (5-11, 0-5 Southern)  7 pm  ESPN3
The Samford Bulldogs visit Lexington, Va. on Thursday night, to meet the VMI Keydets. The Bulldogs are 4-6 on the road this season, while the Keydets are 4-2 in Cameron Hall. The Bulldogs are coming off a home win over Western Carolina, while the Keydets are in a five game losing streak. The Bulldogs take a 6 point win over the Keydets.

Chattanooga (16-3, 5-1 Southern)  at  UNCG (6-12, 2-3 Southern)  7 pm  ESPN3
League leading Chattanooga travels to Greensboro to the the UNCG Spartans on Thursday. The Mocs are 5-3 in road games this season, while the Spartans are 3-2 in home games.  Chattanooga has won three in a row, and 10 of their last 11 games, while the Spartans are coming off a win over VMI. The Mocs win by 10 points.

The Citadel (8-10, 1-4 Southern)  at  Western Carolina (7-11, 2-3 Southern)  7:30 pm  SDN
The Bulldogs travel to Cullowhee to meet the Catamounts in the Ramsey Center. The Citadel is 2-6 in road games this season, while the Cats are 7-1 in games played in the Ramsey Center. The Bulldogs are coming off a home win over Furman, while the Catamounts have lost two straight on the road. The Cats win by 10 over the  Bulldogs.
