J.T. Poston Wins Big I National Championship

Incoming Western Carolina freshman J.T. Poston won the individual medalist honors in the 43rd Trusted Choice Big "I" National Championship at Reunion Golf and Country Club in Madison, Mississippi. Poston is the second consecutive Catamount singee to win this honor. In 2010, incoming freshman Greg Bunner was also crowned in the individual championship.

Renowned as the nation's largest junior stroke-play golf tournament, the Trusted Choice Big "I" National Championship is one of the longest running junior golf events in the country. The 2011 tournament featured the top junior golfers from 36 states, that advanced from qualifying tournaments held around the nation.

"We are really proud of J.T. and all of his accomplishments," said WCU men's golf head coach Carter Cheves. "I know he wanted to end his junior career on top and he did exactly what he set out to do. He has been playing incredible golf and we are thrilled to have him joining us this fall."
