The Catamounts won game with the Georgia Southern Eagles Friday evening, by a final score of 5-4 in Statesboro.
The Eagles jumped out to a four run lead over the Cats, on the strength of a three run third inning. However, the Eagles were held hitless and scoreless over the final four innings, as T.J. Fussell picked up the win in relief. Fussell walked two batters and struck out four on his way to improving his overall record to 5-2 on the year.

The Cats cut the lead down to just one, with their own three run inning, in the sixth. In the eighth, Adam Martin tied the game for the Cats with a solo home run. Luke Gragg scored the go ahead run in the top of the ninth inning, as the Eagles's Dalton Busby fielded a high chopper off the bat of J.D. Long, but Busby's throw got away from the Eagle's catcher. In the bottom of the 9th, Fussell faced only three Eagles, striking out two looking, and catching a line drive for the third out.
The Cats avoided any errors on the night, but Georgia Southern was charged with two. Game two on Saturday has first pitch at 4:30 pm.
