The Owls of Kennesaw State visit Cullowhee on Tuesday, May 13th, for the return game of this year's home and home series, and the game will be the final "out of conference" game of the regular season for the Catamounts.
Western Carolina leads the overall series between the two teams, 9-5, however the Owls defeated the Cats back on March 12th, by a final score of 4-3 in Kennesaw, GA.
The Owls comes to Hennon Stadium with a 30-20 overall record, and are 14-9 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Owls are on a 16 game winning streak, and are coming off a three game sweep of Northern Kentucky, while the Cats are coming off two straight losses to Georgia Southern. The 16-game win streak for KSU is now the longest active winning streak in the natio, and also ties KSU for the longest win streak at any point in the season with South Carolina.
The Owls are in the top 10 in the nation in total hits with 543, and ranks in the top 50 in total runs this season with 316. KSU's Max Pentecost ranks No. 2 in the nation in hits with 90 and holds the longest active hit streak in the country at 31 games and counting. As a team the Owls have now played 32 games with double-digit hits including 16 out of the last 17 contests. Closer Justin McCalvin earned his 11th save of the season at Northern Kentucky to set a new KSU single-season record.
