20 Days Until WCU Football Kickoff - #20 Wesley Scott



It's now 20 days until the kickoff of Catamount Football on Thursday, August 29, 2024, against NC State Wolfpack in Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh, NC 
 
To help pass those long summer days, and hopefully get the Catamount faithful more excited about the upcoming season, and knowledgeable of the team members, we'll continue the football countdown each day until kickoff day.

Today we will highlight a defensive linebacker:

Hometown: Hobe Sound, Fla.
High School: Jupiter Christian











Prior to Western Carolina: Two-time transfer who started his collegiate career at Keiser then Tusculum, coming to Cullowhee in the summer ahead of the 2024 season … Played for WCU defensive coordinator Jerry Odom at Tusculum … Over the past four seasons, has amassed 304 tackles with 32 for loss and nine sacks … Earned three all-conference accolades.

At Tusculum: Played in 22 games over two seasons at Tusculum … Was a two-time All-SAC Mountain Division selection … Recorded 185 total tackles including 98 solo stops where he averaged 8.4 tackles per game … Had 21 tackles for loss with 6.5 sacks in two seasons … Earned second-team All-Region plaudits in 2023, finishing with 89 tackles … In 2022, led the team with 96 total tackles, averaging 8.7 tackles per game … Posted a TU-best 15 tackles for loss, 12th in the SAC.

At Keiser: Played in 21 career games, credited with 119 tackles including 66 solo stops and six tackles for loss with a pair of sacks … Had two interceptions with a pair of forced fumbles and one recovery … Keiser advanced to the NAIA playoffs three times with three Mid-South Sun Division championships during his tenure … Redshirted in 2019 … Posted 29 total tackles including 16 solo stops with two tackles for loss and an interception as a redshirt freshman in 2020 … In 2021 as a redshirt sophomore, earned All-Mid-South Conference Sun Division second-team plaudits, playing in 11 games with a team-leading 90 tackles including 50 solo stops with four for loss and two sacks … Accounted for 10 or more tackles on four occasions including a school-record 15 stops with a TFL against Southeastern … Earned MSC Sun Division Defensive Player of the Week honors once.

At Jupiter (Fla.) HS: Was a 2018 Palm Beach County All-Star.
