18 Days Until WCU Football Kickoff - Isaiah Johnson / Ant Turner







It's now 18 days until the kickoff of Catamount Football on Thursday, August 29, 2024, against NC State Wolfpack in Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh, NC 
 
To help pass those long summer days, and hopefully get the Catamount faithful more excited about the upcoming season, and knowledgeable of the team members, we'll continue the football countdown each day until kickoff day.

Today we will highlight two players that wear #18, one on offense and one of defense::

#18 Isaiah Johnson









Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 6-0
Weight: 170
Class: Freshman
Hometown: Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
High School: Choctawhatchee HS






Prior to Western Carolina: Finished his senior season with 42 catches for 1,083 yards and 16 receiving touchdowns … Also plays basketball and runs track as a prep where he was the Florida State 3-A champion in the long jump where he additionally ranked nationally, and was a part of the runner-up 4x100 meter relay team.

Personal: Full name is Isaiah Taria Johnson ... Is the son of Kendra Mitchell and Robert Johnson ... Has two siblings.


#18 Antarron Turner






Position: Linebacker
Height: 6-2
Weight: 225
Class: Redshirt Sophomore
Hometown: Ocala, Fla.
High School: A.L. Brown (N.C.) HS








2023 (Redshirt Freshman): Saw action in all 11 of the team’s games, each coming as a reserve on offense and on special teams … Credited with eight total tackles including four solo stops, adding a quarterback hurry … Posted two tackles apiece in the first two games of the season with a pair of assists at Arkansas (Sept. 2) and two solo stops against Samford (Sept. 9) … Tallied a third, two-tackle game in the season finale at VMI (Nov 18) … Credited with a tackle in WCU’s annual Spring Game.

2022 (Freshman): Played in four games as a true freshman, remaining eligible for redshirt … Credited with two tackles on the season … Made his collegiate debut in the season-opener at Charleston Southern (Sept. 3) … Tallied two tackles in the home win over Presbyterian (Sept. 17), recording his first career stops … Posted five tackles to rank among the team leaders in WCU’s annual Spring Game.

Prior to Western Carolina: Recorded 104 total tackles including 57 solo stops as a senior, finishing third in the conference in total tackles … Credited with 12.0 tackles for loss with a sack, adding an interception and a fumble recovery … Added three receptions for 18 yards on offense … Selected for the Queen City Senior Bowl.

Personal: Full name is Antarron Jaylin Turner ... Prefers to go by the nickname "Ant" ... Is the son of Chalon Manning and Antonio Turner ... Was born in Ocala, Fla., and finished high school in Kannapolis, N.C.
