A recap of Thursday's games:

Penn State-New Kensington 58 - VMI 100    The VMI men's basketball team rolled to a 100-58 victory over Penn State New Kensington Thursday evening in the Keydets 2022-23 home opener. It was the first victory for new head mentor Andrew Wilson as the head coach at VMI. Freshmen guards Asher Woods (22) and Tony Felder, Jr. (20) each broke the 20-point barrier and posted career-high point totals.

Oakland City 49 - Chattanooga 93    The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team featured six scorers in double digits while head coach Dan Earl earned his first victory at UTC following a 93-49 rout over NAIA member Oakland City to open the 2022-23 home season inside McKenzie Arena on Thursday night. Following the win, Chattanooga improves to 1-1 on the season and picked up its fourth-straight home opening victory. Oakland City remains at 2-0 this season as the contest counted as an exhibition for the Mighty Oaks.

Presbyterian 58 - The Citadel 70    The Citadel men's basketball team turned up the intensity in the second half and gave head coach Ed Conroy a victory in his first game back inside McAlister Field House as the Bulldogs defeated Presbyterian, 70-58 in front of 1,035 fans. The Bulldogs shot 28-of-55 (.509) from the field for the game. They went 16-of-31 in the first half and 12-of-24 in the second half. On the defensive end, the Bulldogs held PC to just 9-of-32 (.281) shooting in the second half. Stephen Clark led the way offensively with a career-high 23 points, besting his old career-high of 22 points set against Chattanooga on Jan. 8, 2022. He added four rebounds and three blocks.

Western Carolina 51 - Maryland 71     Redshirt junior Tyzhaun Claude finished in double figures for the second straight game with 12 points, but Western Carolina was unable to overcome a cold shooting first half in a 71-51 setback to Maryland inside XFINITY Center on Thursday night. Claude tallied 12 points, seven rebounds, and one block. Senior Tyler Harris tallied eight points along with freshman Marcus Kell in his collegiate debut. Redshirt juniors Tre Jackson and Russell Jones Jr. both finished with seven points.

Spring Hill 61 - Samford 80     Jaden Campbell and Jermaine Marshall combined for 36 points to help the Samford Men's Basketball team improve to 2-0 with an 80-61 win over Spring Hill College on Thursday. Both Campbell and Marshall logged 18 points, with Marshall also hauling in eight rebounds. Logan Dye finished just one board shy of a double-double with an 11-point, nine-rebound effort.
