WCU Baseball: The Citadel









After the postponement of the Mercer series, the Catamounts will now open the conference portion of the schedule against The Citadel in Cullowhee.

The Series: Western is currently 89-68 overall vs. the Bulldogs on the diamond. The Cats and Dogs first played in 1971, and the Cats are 51-25 vs. the Citadel in games played in Cullowhee and are 78-56 in only conference games vs. the Bulldogs.  The Cats are 6-4 against the dogs in the last 10 games played.

The double header was moved to Friday, so only the single Saturday game will be streamed on ESPN+. 

The Bulldogs were picked to finish seventh in the preseason polls by both the head coaches and media and second baseman Tyler Corbitt was selected as a Preseason All-Southern Conference Second Team selection.  The Citadel will play at South Carolina on Wednesday prior to the trip to Cullowhee. 

The Bulldogs have been in a slump since 2013 and have gone without either a winning overall record or winning conference record since the 2013 season, when they were 35-25 overall and  18-12 in the SoCon.
