In the second game of the 2016 season, the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb travel to Cullowhee to meet the Cats for the first time since the 2010 football season, The Cats won that game, 28-14 in Boiling Springs.

Tyrell Maxwell (QB) and Khalil Lewis (RB) each topped 100 yards rushing for Gardner-Webb's 31-6 win at Elon Saturday. Lewis had a career-high 109 yards on 23 carries and scored three touchdowns. Maxwell finished with 154 yards rushing and a score on 21 carries, and passed for 102 yards, to direct the Gardner-Webb offense that finished with 327 yards on the ground and 436 yards of total offense.
