“The Department of Athletics at Western Carolina is aware of the allegation against this member of the men’s basketball team," Athletic Director Randy Eaton said in a prepared statement.
"We are monitoring the situation very closely, and we have taken appropriate action as called for by department and team policy. Based on that policy, I have instituted a suspension from competition for a violation of team rules, pending further review by athletics administration. This action will entail suspension from the team’s opening game. It is also our department policy not to comment any further regarding on-going investigations.”
