Week number 12 is now in the books.
The regular season has come to a close, and as things stand now, the SoCon will probably have at least two teams in the playoffs, maybe three.
The Citadel Bulldogs pulled off a major upset on Saturday, beating the South Carolina Gamecocks. Congrats to the Bulldogs.
The Citadel at South Carolina
The Citadel Bulldogs pulled off a stunning 23-22 win Saturday over South Carolina of the Southeastern Conference. Facing a third-and-1 with just over six minutes to go, the Gamecocks overcommitted and quarterback Dominique Allen changed the play, sending Renew outside where he ran 56 yards nearly untouched for the final margin. South Carolina appeared to salvage this game on a miracle 94-yard fourth down touchdown to Pharoh Cooper with 44 seconds left. But the officials called a false start, saying all the Gamecocks weren't set.
Western Carolina at VMI
Catamount running back Detrez Newsom ran for a 2-yard touchdown with two minutes left as the Catamounts held on to beat VMI 24-20 on Saturday. Newsom ran for 141 yards on 30 carries, and had five catches with a 75-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter. Troy Mitchell was 24 of 33 for 300 yards passing with two touchdowns for Western.
Samford at Mercer
Samford rallied in the forth quarter, scoring 28 points, to beat Mercer 47-21 in Saturday's season finale for both teams. Devlin Hodges was 30 of 44 for 392 yards on the night, while kicker Anthony Pistelli made four field goals, Denzel Williams rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, sd Emmanuel Obajimi had 7 receptions for 144 yards and one touchdown.
Furman at Wofford
Wofford's quarterback, Evan Jacks rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns, and Chase Nelson ran for the game-clinching TD with 17 seconds remaining, lifting Wofford to a 38-28 win over Furman on Saturday.
Chattanooga at Florida State
The Seminoles scored on eight straight drives in a 52-13 win over Chattanooga. Florida State's average field position was its own 44, and half of the scoring drives lasted less than three minutes.
