WCU Sets Record on GivingTuesday 2024

Leading up to GivingTuesday on December 3, the Division of Advancement at WCU set a goal of 1,300 individual donors, with a focus on boosting contributions to the Catamount Club and athletics facilities upgrades.

Friends and alumni generously contributed over $6 million to Western Carolina University during the 2024 GivingTuesday initiative, a remarkable increase from the previous year's record. This outstanding support has paved the way for a challenge gift that will unlock additional funding for WCU athletics facilities renovations.

Following the successful conclusion of GivingTuesday, the division is pleased to announce that 1,555 individual donors made 1,628 gifts, surpassing the initial goal by 255 donors. Among these donors were 274 new contributors. The total amount raised through gifts and pledges on GivingTuesday reached an impressive $6,074,007.73, far exceeding last year's record of $1,571,180.51 from 1,251 donors.

"I would like to thank Dr. Brown, Alex Gary, and the entire WCU Board of Trustees for their trust in this extension. I am grateful for their continued confidence and support for not only myself, but for the outstanding young men, coaches, and staff in our entire football program. It's a privilege to be the head football coach at Western Carolina," said Bell. "Catamount Nation ranks among the best fan bases and communities in the country, and I'd like to thank them for their loyal support and the energy they provide our football team. I look forward to many great years to come and bringing a Southern Conference championship to Cullowhee."
