Welcome to this week's Purple & Gold SoCon Power Rankings for the week beginning 11-3-14. The power rankings are published weekly
on Tuesday.
This week, the SoCon will feature only three conference games, as VMI and Mercer both have bye weeks.
Saturday's first game kicks off as Wofford visits league leading Chattanooga in a 1 pm game. The Mocs will be looking to maintain their conference lead, while the Terriers will be looking give the Mocs their first conference loss, and in doing so, joining the Mocs at the top of the conference standings. At 2 pm, Furman travels to Charleston to meet the Citadel Bulldogs, both teams are looking for their second conference victory of the season. At 3:30 pm, the Catamounts travel to Birmingham in an attempt to rebound from last Saturday's devastating defeat at the hands of the Mocs in Cullowhee.

Record: 6-3 (5-0 SoCon) - Up next - Wofford, 5-3 (3-1 SoCon)
The Mocs are coming off one of their most complete games of the season, a 51-0 domination of the Catamounts. The Mocs must take care not to have a let down against the Terriers.
2. (2) Western Carolina
Last Game: WCU 0 - Chattanooga 51
Record: 6-3 (4-1 SoCon) - Up next - at Samford, 5-3 (3-2 SoCon)
The Cats hope to rebound this week after a complete breakdown against the Mocs, a win keeps the Cats within range if the Mocs have a slip up in the next two weeks.
3. (3) Wofford Last Game: Bye
Record: 5-3 (3-1 SoCon) - Up next - at Chattanooga, 6-3 (5-0 SoCon)
The Terriers biggest challenge of the season, traveling to the SoCon leader Chattanooga that is coming off a huge win over the Catamounts.
4. (4) Samford
Last Game: Samford 55 - Concordia 0
Record: 5-3 (3-2 SoCon) - Up next - Western Carolina, 6-3 (4-1 SoCon)
While out of the race for a championship, the Bulldogs can still play the role of spoiler.
5. (5) The Citadel
Last Game: The Citadel 28 - Mercer 26
Record: 3-6 (1-3 SoCon) - Up next - Furman, 2-7 (1-3 SoCon)
Looking for their second conference victory, the Bulldogs can almost smell victory over a crippled Paladin team.
6. (6) Mercer
Last Game: Mercer 26 - The Citadel 28
Record: 5-5 (1-5 SoCon) - Up next - Bye
It's a bye week for the Bears, time to rest and recuperate.
7. (8) Virginia Military Institute
Last Game: VMI 31 - Furman 15
Record: 2-8 (1-4 SoCon) - Up next - Bye
It's a bye week for the Keydets, time to rest and recuperate.
8. (7) Furman
Last Game: Furman 0 - Samford 45
Record: 2-7 (1-3 SoCon) - Up next - at The Citadel, 3-6 (1-3 SoCon)
The Paladins will hobble down to Charleston to take on the Bulldogs, both teams looking and hoping for that second conference win.
