Tied 4-4 at the end of regulation, and unable to score for 3 more innings, the Cats belted out five runs in the top of the 13th to post the opening day win over the Davidson Wildcats, 9-4.
The Cats were down 4-3 entering the ninth inning, when Austin Neary hit a lead-off home run that send the game into extra innings.
Tyler White can be credited for five of WCU's runs as he scored twice himself and knocked in three RBI, which makes him the team RBI leader for the season. White went 3-for-7 in the game. Austin Neary went 3-for-6 with 2 RBI for the night.
Game two of the three-game series begins Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
