Freshman Tayla Carter and sophomore Alisha Bradshaw have been named the Southern Conference’s Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets over last weekend.
Cater was victorious in three events at the 2013 Beynon Sports Surfaces Catamount Classic Meet in Cullowhee, N.C. Cater won the 100m with a time of 11.67, won the 200m with an all-time personal-best performance of 23.93 and anchored WCU's winning 4x 400m Relay team with a total time of 3:47. Carter currently lead the SoCon in the 100m and 200m dashes and WCU’s 4 x400m Relay Team also leads the SoCon.
Bradshaw claimed three individual titles at the 2013 Beynon Sports Surfaces Catamount Classic Meet. Bradshaw won the shot put with a throw of 43-4 1/4", the hammer with a toss of 162-9" and the discus with a toss of 148-3". The sophomore currently leads the SoCon in the discus and is ranked in the top-four in the other two events.
