Trey Sumler has been named the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for all games played February 5-11.
Sumler is currently ranked second in the Southern Conference with 18.0 points per game, and leads the league in steals (2.2 spg), as well as fifth in assists (3.8 apg).
Sumler averaged 19.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists as the Catamounts went 2-1 last week. After losing at Davidson (73-59), the Cats won at Georgia Southern (71-62) , then won at home holding off Wofford (57-56).
In the Wofford game, Sumler put up a game-high 26 points, including the game-winning jumper with 2.3 seconds left against the Terriers. Sumler shot 40 percent (6-of-15) from 3-point range, 75 percent (9-of-12) from the free throw line while averaging 2.3 steals in the last three games.
