Cullowhee, NC - Head coach Mark Speir welcomed his first new football class to Cullowhee today, as all football players returned to the Whee. Many football players were already there, as 87 were enrolled in the second session of summer school.
Today's report day includes moving into on-campus residence halls, and spending most of the day with the equipment managers and athletic training staff. Also on today's agenda was completing evaluations and physicals with the medical staff.
Thursday's activities will end with the first full team meeting in the evening. "Reporting day is always an exciting time for us as coaches, but also for our fan base," said Speir. "All of the off-season work -spring drills, the early mornings, the voluntary workouts through the summer - it all culminates with today."
The Cats will conduct their first of two helmets only practices on Friday evening at 7:30 pm. Helmets and shoulder pads will be worn on Sunday & Monday, then the first practice in full pads will be next Tuesday afternoon.
