19 Days until Catamount Football Kickoff - #19 Jayelin Davis

It's now 19 days until the kickoff of Catamount football on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023, against the Arkansas Razorbacks in the War Memorial Stadium, Little Rock, AR.

To help pass those long summer days, and hopefully get the Catamount faithful a little more excited about the upcoming season, and knowledgeable of the team members, we'll continue the football countdown each day until kickoff day.

2022 (Junior): Played in all 11 games as a defensive reserve and on special teams … Finished the year with seven total tackles including four solo stops … Made his WCU debut in the season-opener at Charleston Southern (Sept. 3) … Posted his first tackle in a Catamount uniform at Georgia Tech (Sept. 10) … Tallied a career-best three tackles at Mercer (Oct. 8), also forcing a fumble … Had one kick return for 10 yards in the home win over Wofford (Nov. 5).

Prior to Western Carolina: Transferred to WCU during the summer of 2022 through the portal from Morgan State in Baltimore, Md., after beginning his collegiate career at Georgia Military College ... Has two years of eligibility remaining; 

Morgan State (2021): Played in six games as a defensive reserve ... Credited with seven total tackles including five solo stops and one for loss ... Posted a career-best three tackles at South Carolina State; At GMC (2019-21): Played in five games as a freshman in 2019, credited with eight tackles including two for loss and a fumble recovery he returned 15 yards ... Earned his Associate of Science degree from GMC; 

High School: Was a four-year letter winner at Fox Creek High ... Earned team Defensive MVP and Most Improved Awards as a linebacker ... Listed as a Top 5 CSRA leading tackler with over 100 stops as a senior.
