A recap of Wednesday's games
Tre Jackson scored a game-high 21 points to lead Western Carolina, but a second half run by Davidson proved to be the difference in a 72-64 loss to the Wildcats inside John M. Belk Arena on Wednesday. Davidson improves to 7-3 overall while WCU drops to 4-6 on the season. Jackson's 21-point output ties his WCU career-best which he also accomplished in a road win at McNeese State on Nov. 18. Vonterius Woolbright added 15 points followed by Tyzhaun Claude with 12 points, adding a team-best seven rebounds.
Carlow University 67 - VMI 106
Junior Devin Butler nailed seven three-pointers and scored a career-high 25 points Wednesday evening to lead the VMI men's basketball team to a 106-67 win over Carlow University in Cameron Hall. The visiting Celtics kept the game close until the final minutes of the first half. The Keydets closed out the period with a 16-4 run to enter intermission ahead 51-34. The advantage soon was extended to 32 points after VMI outscored the Celtics 26-11 over the first nine minutes of the second half.
