Baseball: Cats take game two over Washington State

Western Carolina scored three runs in the top of the 1st inning only to be tied in the bottom of the 1st by a determined Washington State team.

Holding the Cats scoreless in the second, the Cougars took a short lived two run lead in the home half of the inning, upping the score to 5-3.

However the Cats weren't behind long, as they scored 4 runs in the next two innings while holding WSU runless for the next 5 innings before giving up one run in the 8th inning. The final score of 8-6 gives the Catamounts a two game lead in the four game series.

Both teams had nine hits in the game. Jordan Smith pitched 6 innings and was the winning pitcher,  while Tanner Chleborad picked up the loss for the Cougars, giving up 7 hits, 7 runs and walking three.  All told, the Cats used 5 pitchers in relief

Game three of the four-game series is scheduled for 3:00 pm ET on Sunday afternoon.
