Career Notes: Enters his third collegiate season already at 851 career points, just 149 shy of the 1,000 point plateau ... Has 244 career assists and is just 87 shy of moving onto WCU's career top 10 list.

2011-12 (Redshirt Sophomore): Started in all 35 of the Catamounts' games on the season ... Scored 472 points on the year to rank second on the team with a 13.5 point per game average which ranked 12th in the Southern Conference ... Reached double-digit scoring in 29 of the 35 games on the season ... Also averaged 4.9 rebounds per game to rank third on the team while pacing the squad with 145 assists, an average of 4.1 per game which ranked him fifth in the SoCon ... Ranked third in the league with an average of 36.3 minutes played per game ... Recorded his first career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in the road win over Presbyterian (11/17) ... Suffered a broken finger against Kent State (12/10), but still managed to play 37 minutes of the game and score 19 points in the home loss ... Had surgery to repair the finger with a pair of small screws during WCU's exam week (12/12-12/16), returning to the line-up at Bradley (12/20), playing 39 minutes and scoring 11 points including eight from the free throw line ... Dished out a career-high 12 assists in the road loss at Chattanooga (1/5) ... the 12 assists were the most in a single-game by a Catamount since 2000 when Casey Rogers also dished out a dozen dimes in a home win over UNCG ... Scored a career-high 27 points in the home win over Appalachian State (2/25) ... Averaged 16 points, 6.5 rebounds and five assists per game in four contests in the SoCon Tournament to earn first team all-tournament team honors in Asheville ... Early in the season, was named to the Bob Cousy Award Watch List ... Was the lone Catamount named to the preseason All-Southern Conference team.

2010-11 (Redshirt Freshman): Played in all 33 games including 23 starts with 21-consecutive appearances in the starting lineup to conclude the season ... Averaged 31.3 minutes of playing time per game ... Ranked second on the team - and 22nd in the Southern Conference - with an 11.5 points per game average, recording 20 double-digit scoring outings ... Averaged 13.4 points per game against SoCon foes, tied for 16th in the league ... Selected as the "Mr. Hustle Spirit Award" winner by the coaching staff ... Boarded a career-high eight three times, finishing with a 4.0 rebound per game average ... Ranked third in the SoCon with a 43.7 3-point field goal percentage and was ninth with a 79.4 free throw seasonal free throw percentage ... Named Southern Conference Freshman of the Year by both the league's head coaches and voting members of the media and was named to the SoCon's All-Freshman team ... He is the second Catamount in the past three years to garner the conference's top rookie honor, joining Harouna Mutombo who earned the award in 2009 ... Saw his first collegiate action at Clemson in the 2010-11 season opener, entering the game at the 13:47 mark of the first half ... Connected on his first collegiate field goal at the 13:12 mark - a 3-pointer just 35 seconds into his college career - leading the Catamounts with a career-high 16 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting night in the opener ... Made his first collegiate start on Dec. 4 at Chattanooga, finishing with eight points ... Posted double-digit scoring in a career-best eight-straight games from Dec. 12 at Ohio State through the road game at the College of Charleston - twice scoring 20-or-more points including 23 in the road win at Georgia Southern and a career-high 24 in the home victory over Davidson ... Connected on the game-winning free throws in the home victory over Chattanooga (2/11/11).

2009-10 (Freshman): Redshirted ... Received the squad's "Most Improved" award for his hard work on the practice court.

Prior to Western: Walked on to the Western Carolina men's basketball team following a prep career at Nash Central High School in Rocky Mount, N.C. ... An athletic wing who averaged 23.6 points per outing as a senior for the Bulldogs ... Was selected as the NEW-6 Conference's Boys Co-Player of the Year, sharing the award with Wilson Fike's Jeremy Atkinson ... Sumler helped the Bulldogs reach the Round of 16 of the Class 3-A State Playoffs, where NCHS was edged in the final minute by defending state champion Kinston ... Sumler collected 36 points in that outing ... Sumler scored a career-best 40 points against Bunn ... For his career, he tallied 1,921 points and was a first-team All-Conference pick four times ... He is also Nash Central's career leader in assists (405) and steals (260) ... Following his senior season, was named to play in the annual North Carolina-South Carolina All-Star Game.
