Cullowhee, NC - The volleyball Catamounts downed the ASU Mountaineers by a score of 3-1. The Cats won the first set 25-19, then the Mountaineers evened the match at 1-1 with a 23-25 win in set 2. WCU won the next two sets to take the match (25-23 and 25-22). This win avenges an earlier loss this season to ASU in Boone. "I was really pleased with our execution tonight," said head coach Karen Glover. "We were able to have a balanced attack because of our girls' ability to execute. They did a great job of leading us tonight, and I'm glad we were able to defeat our rival for their last match at home."
"Tonight was the most memorable experience that I've had in the four years of playing volleyball here at Western," said senior Rebecca Stoltz. "Now, we just need to get back and work on some of our strategies in preparation for the weekend. We need to match the enthusiasm and effort that we played with tonight."
We started the week with a win over ASU, let's end the week the same way.
