Western Carolina defeated Appalachian State 74-61 Thursday night at the Holmes Center in Boone, NC for the last ever regular season meeting between the two schools as Southern Conference members.
James Sinclair put up 17 points and seven rebounds, while Trey Sumler added 14 points with six assists and five steals as the Catamounts shot 49 percent from the field and were 19 of 22 at the free throw line.
The Cats jumped out to an early 9-0 lead and never fell behind the entire game. App State did pull within three points midway through the second half, but the Cats added a quick 6 points to end the challenge.
The Cats return home to the friendly confines of the Ramsey Center for a trap game with The Citadel on Saturday at 2 pm.
