Head Coach: Dan Earl became the 22nd head coach of the program on March 31, 2022, the Mocs bought him away from VMI.

The Series: Western is 30-69 overall against Chattanooga, in a series that tipped off in 1969, and are 27-57 in Southern Conference games. The Cats are 6-38 in games played in Chattanooga but are 6-4 in the last 10 games played. The two teams split last season, with each team winning on their home court.
Chattanooga was picked to finish second in the SoCon preseason media poll, but fourth in the coach's poll. Jake Stephens, a grad transfer from VMI was selected as the preseason player of the year, and was the only player selected for honors from Chattanooga. Stephens has been selected player of the week for five of the eight weekly selections so far this season.
The Mocs come into the game with a 2-2 conference record, picking up wins over Mercer & VMU and losses to the Citadel and UNCG. Chattanooga ranks third in the conference in scoring offense (just ahead of WCU), posting 78.4 points per game (ppg), and are fourth (again just ahead of WCU) in scoring defense giving up only 68.3 ppg. In their most recent game, Stephens was 11-for-18 from the field, 5-of-6 from 3-point range and 10-of-13 at the foul line to help the Mocs control the game as they built their lead to as many as 23 points in the second half and improved to 10-7 overall and 2-2 in the SoCon. Stephens scored a total of 37 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in the win over the Keydets.
