54 Days 'till WCU Football Kickoff - Roman Johnson










It's now 54 days until the kickoff of Catamount football on Saturday, August 31, 2019, against the Mercer Bears, in E.J. Whitmire Stadium, Cullowhee, NC

To help pass those long summer days, and hopefully get the Catamount faithful more excited about the upcoming season, and knowledgeable of the team members, we'll continue the 100-day football countdown each day until kickoff day.

Position: Defensive Line

Prior to Western Carolina: Three-year varsity letter winner, two-time Mid-Piedmont 3-A Conference Defensive Player of the Year … Described as an explosive pass-rusher and playmaker … Selected as the All-USA Today North Carolina All-State High School football team and first-team HSXtra.com All-Area in 2017 … Credited with 185 total tackles including 144 solo stops and 38 tackles for loss and 22 sacks to finish ranked nationally in the top 10 according to MaxPreps … Blocked four punts, recovered three fumbles and scored seven touchdowns as a fullback on offense … Also played basketball and participated in track & field as a prep ... High school coach was Jason Bradley.

Personal: Is the son of Lucinda and Roman Johnson … Has three older siblings, Roland, Ronnell, and Roize.
