90 Days 'till Kickoff - #90 Kelvin Ume

It's now 90 days until kickoff of Catamount football against the Mars Hill University Lions in E.J. Whitmire Stadium on September 5th in Cullowhee.

To help pass those long summer days until football season officially starts, and to hopefully get the Catamount faithful more excited about the upcoming season, we'll continue the 100 day football countdown each day until kickoff day arrives.

2013 (Freshman): Played in 11 of the team's 12 games on the year with three starts at defensive tackle ... Made his collegiate debut in the season-opener at Middle Tennessee State with his first career start coming in the home-opener against Mars Hill ... Recorded 21 tackles including four solo stops and 2.0 tackles for loss including a sack ... Tallied five assisted tackles in his first start against Mars Hill ... Credited with 1.5 tackles for loss including a sack at Chattanooga in a three-tackle performance ... Tallied a career-high tackles at run-oriented Georgia Southern ... Recorded four tackles in WCU's annual Spring Game.

Prior to Western Carolina: Split time along the defensive line as a defensive end and tackle ... Came to the United States from Nigeria in the early 2000's and did not play football until his freshman year of high school in Ohio ... Finished with 85 tackles as a senior, leading the North Cobb Warriors to an 11-3 season and berth in the Class AAAAA state semifinals ... Posted a 16-tackle game in a win over Valdosta, helping limit the opposing offense to just 22 rushing yards ... Was an honorable mention on the All-County team and was selected to the Cobb County All-Star Senior Bowl.
