Basketball: Today in the SoCon (12-7-14)



Sunday, December 7, 2014 – Men's Basketball Games in the Southern Conference 

No Southern Conference games are scheduled today, on the day that will live in infamy.

Recapping yesterday’s games - a good day for the SoCon with 3 OOC wins

Navy at The Citadel -
The Bulldogs Jake Wright scored 21 points, including 6 of 10 from 3-point land, to lead The Citadel to a 67-60 win over Navy. Navy held a 50-46 lead with 5:28 to play, but The Citadel went on a 13-4 run to seize control of the game, outscoring the Midshipmen 21-10 down the stretch.

UNCG at Presbyterian -
The Spartan's Kayel Locke scored 20 points and had a late put back basket as UNCG held on to pull out their second win of the season with a 55-53 victory over Presbyterian.

Florida National at Wofford -
Five Terriers scored in double figures, as Wofford rolled over Florida National, 88-57. Justin Gordon came up just one rebound shy of a double-double and had two assists, a block and a steal. He also slammed down a pair of dunks.

Samford at Furman -
The Pladian's Stephen Croone scored 33 points to lead Furman to a 74-64 victory over Samford on Saturday.  The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-2 in conference play and was the opening conference game for Furman.

VMI at Mercer -
Mercer's Phillip Leonard and Ike Nwamu each scored 18 points as the Bears held on to knock off  VMI 90-81. Mercer made 29 of 57 from the field and hekd the Keydets to 26-of-70 shooting. Mercer dominated the boards 47 to 29 , resulting in a 42-16 scoring advantage in the paint.
