Purple & Gold's "Catamount Player of the Game" for the Chattanooga game on October 7th in Chattanooga, TN, is Redshirt senior, All-American Kicker, Richard McCollum, for the first time this season.
The Catamount Player of the Game, Richard McCollum once again brought his perfect kicking into this season's Chattanooga game. McCollum kicked a perfect 7 for 7 PATs and then, with the Cats down 49-50, and just 4 seconds remaining on the clock, McCollum split the uprights to hit the walk-off field goal, giving the Catamounts a road victory, 52-50 over the #21 Chattanooga Mocs.
While many contributed to this team's win, any of them had a game worthy of player-of-the-game contribution. Cole Gonzales threw for 276 years and 3 touchdowns; Desmond Reid had 276 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns; Censere Lee had 87 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. Their contributions can't be overlooked. However, Richard's 10 points from the kicking game were critical to the Western Carolina win.
Purple & Gold congratulates Richard McCollum on his selection of Catamount Player of the Game.
