Game #2 - Davidson Wildcats


The Cats return from Hawaii, their longest road game trip ever, to meet this week's opponent, the Davidson Wildcats, in E.J. Whitmire Stadium.  Former Southern Conference and current Pioneer Football League member Davidson travels up the mountain for the first meeting in Cullowhee with the Catamounts since 1984.

The game has been declared a "Blackout" and all fans are encouraged to wear black, with the first 5,000 fans in the stadium to receive a special "Blackout" t-shirt, also a special post-game fireworks demonstration will be held after the game.

Game(s) played before Western Carolina:  1 game, Brevard - The Wildcats opened their season with 30-7 win over Brevard College. Stockton McGuire, Wesley Dugger and Kahleel Shaw each ran for scores and Davidson beat Division III member Brevard College in last Saturday’s season opener. Davidson freshman Wesley Dugger debuted with a bang, rushing for 196 yards on 31 carries and a touchdown. QB Stockton McGuire passed for 65 yards and rushed for 49 yards. Backup quarterback Tyler Phelps’ first pass was an 82-yard scoring strike to Pat Tabor in the fourth quarter. WR Pat Tabor pulled in 5 receptions for a total of 64 yards.
