12 Days Until WCU Football Kickoff - Brody Palhegyi / Amarian Robinson

It's now 12 days until the kickoff of Catamount Football on Thursday, August 29, 2024, against NC State Wolfpack in Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh, NC 

 

To help pass those long summer days, and hopefully get the Catamount faithful more excited about the upcoming season, and knowledgeable of the team members, we'll continue the football countdown each day until kickoff day.

Today we will highlight two players that wear #12, one on offense and one of defense::

#12 Brody Palhegyi

Position: Quarterback
Height: 5-10
Weight: 180
Class: Redshirt Junior
Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
High School: Cardinal Gibbons HS

2023 (Redshirt Sophomore): Played in five games as an offensive reserve at quarterback … Completed 31-of-52 passes for 434 yards with four touchdowns and a pair of interceptions … Added 25 rushes for 162 yards and two scores on the ground … Completed 3-of-4 passes for 56 yards and a score while adding a rushing touchdown in the home win over Charleston Southern (Sept. 23) … Was 7-of-10 for 71 yards and a TD with an interception in the road win at The Citadel (Sept. 30) … Tossed a TD pass on two completions against ETSU (Nov. 11) … Saw his most extensive action in relief of Cole Gonzales at VMI (Nov. 18), completing 18-of-31 passes for a career-best 253 yards and a touchdown, adding 80 rushing yards and a score against the Keydets … Completed 3-of-9 passes for 36 yards and added a rushing score in WCU’s annual Spring Game.

2022 (Redshirt Freshman): Played in two games on the year, making his collegiate debut in the home win over Presbyterian (Sept. 17) … Completed 4-of-6 passes for 33 yards and a touchdown, adding four rushes for 53 total yards … Finished 2-for-3 for 24 yards including a 20-yard touchdown pass to running back Corey Reddick, adding 41 rushing yards including a career-long 30-yard romp against the Blue Hose … Was 2-for-3 passing for nine yards with 12 rushing yards at Samford (Sept. 24) … Threw for 159 yards and a touchdown on 9-of-17 passing in WCU’s annual Spring Game.

2021 (Freshman): Did not see game action, taking a redshirt.

 

#12 Amarian Robinson

Position: Defensive Back
Height: 5-10

Class: Graduate Student
Hometown: Akron, Ohio
High School: Akron East HS

Prior to Western Carolina: Played in 40 career games with five starts at Youngstown State … Credited with 31 career stops including 24 solo stops and two tackles for loss with a sack … Tallied a pair of pass breakups … Added five kick returns for 62 total yards as a senior in 2023 … Posted a career-high four tackles at South Dakota (Oct. 14, 2023) … Received the 2023-24 Merton John Bartlemay Scholarship; High School: Was an honorable mention Division III Northeast Inland District pick as a senior ... Recorded four interceptions as a senior ... As a junior, finished with a team-high eight interceptions ... Was also a standout kickoff returner and wide receiver ... Spent two seasons at St. Vincent-St. Mary and final two at Akron East.
