59 Days 'till WCU Football Kickoff - #59 John Esposito









t's now 59 days until the kickoff of Catamount football on Thursday, September 3th, 2020 at 7 pm, against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, in Roy Kid Stadium, Richmond, KY.

To help pass those long summer days, and hopefully get the Catamount faithful more excited about the upcoming season, and knowledgeable of the team members, we'll continue the football countdown each day until kickoff day.

2019 (Redshirt Junior): Played in five games on the year including four-straight to end the season, each coming as a defensive substitution and on special teams … Made his WCU debut against Gardner-Webb (Oct. 5) … Credited with one tackle on the season – a nine-yard, tackle for loss of the Buccaneer punter on special teams in the home win over ETSU (Nov. 9), one of nine TFL’s by WCU defensively in the game.

2018 (Redshirt Sophomore): Sat out due to NCAA transfer rules, taking a redshirt ... Participated in WCU's annual Spring Drills ... Named to the 2018-19 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Prior to Western Carolina: Transferred to WCU in the 2018 spring semester from NCAA Divison III Buffalo State College, participating in spring drills in Cullowhee ... Did not see game action for the Bengals ...

High School: Recorded 93 tackles including 18 for loss with five sacks as a senior ... Was a CHSFL All-Star as a senior and earned a spot in the league’s Senior Bowl, playing outside linebacker and tight end.

Personal: Is the son of Lori and John Esposito.
