Saturday's SoCon Basketball results

Six games were scheduled for Saturday,  and Chattanooga was the big winner, upsetting Dayton, while Samford  picked up a win over Florida A&M.


Navy at VMI
Mavy's Jace Hogan scored 17 points and pulled down 8 rebounds to lead Navy to a 68-62 victory over VMI on Saturday. VMI battled back in the second half, tying the score at 54. Then a 7-0 Midshipman run from the free throw line, put the game away.

Gardner-Webb at Furman
Adonis Burbage scored 16 points  to lead the Bulldogs over Furman 73-53 on Saturday, ending the Paladins' three-game winning streak. Stephen Croone scored 16 with six assists for Furman, and Devin Sibley added 10 points for the Paladins. The Runnin' Bulldogs shot 57% from the field and out-rebounded the Paladins 30-23.

Samford at Florida A&M
Samford's Christen Cunningham scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs past Florida A&M 86-67 on Saturday. Samford shot over 57%  from the floor and hit 11 of 23 (48%) from beyond the three point line. The Bulldogs out rebounded Florida A&M 35-28. Treavann Warren and Justin Ravenal both put up 18 points apiece for Florida A&M's

Chattanooga at Dayton
Chattanooga snapped Dayton's 26-game home winning streak with a 61-59 victory on Saturday night with Greg Pryor's pair of free throws with 5.3 seconds remaining in the game. The Flyers' Charles Cooke scored three points and Kendall Pollard split a pair of free throws to tie the game at 59 with only 31 seconds remaining before Pryor made the game-winning free throws. Scoochie Smith missed a jumper to end it. Pollard had 20 points to lead Dayton.

Belmont Abby at UNCG
UNCG's Francis Alonso scored 14 points to lead UNCG to a 84-61 victory over Div II Belmont Abbey on Saturday night. The Spartans closed the first half on a 20-9 run and led 40-24 at halftime. Deion Lane scored 13 points to lead Belmont Abbey.

Western Carolina at Davidson
Davidson's Brian Sullivan scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats past Western Carolina 87-54 on Saturday in a Gotham Classic game. Davidson opened the second half with an 18-9 run, as the Wildcats outshot the Catamounts 48% to 27% and made 20 of 28 free throws. Mike Brown scored 15 points to lead Western Carolina and Justin Browning added 10.
