Samford vs. Troy  (Mean Green Showcase)
With nine seconds remaining, Samford's Darius Jones-Gibson drained the game-winning 3-point basket from the left flank giving the Bulldogs a 83-79 win against an in-state foes in the opening round of the North Texas Showcase. Samford finished with four players scoring in double figures with Jones-Gibson leading the way with 16 points. Senior Marcus Johnson and Cunningham both followed with 15 points apiece, while true freshman Matt Rose scoring in double figures for a fourth straight time with 13.


Mercer at Davidson 
The Bears suffered their first loss of the season at Davidson by a final of 77-71.The opening half of the game was a back-and-forth,  featuring seven lead changes and three ties. The game was tied at 26-26 with just under four minutes left, but then Davidson scored 10 of the last 15 points to close out the first half with a five-point lead at 36-31. After trailing by 16 points, the Bears rallied  as they reeled off 10 straight points to cut the lead to six points. With a minute left, sophomore Jordan Strawberry connected from three point land to make it a two-point game at 69-67. However, that  was as close as Bears could get, as Davidson pulled away down the stretch to end the rally and win 77-71. 



#4 Iowa State vs. Chattanooga  (Emerald Coast Classic)
No. 4 Iowa State rode a 24-point performance by Nazareth Mitrou-Long in defeating Chattanooga 83-63. The win improved the Cyclones to 3-0 on the season, while the Mocs had their first loss of the season and are now 3-1. The Mocs were the first on the board, ISU finally got on the board from a Georges Niang lay-in, but the Mocs were soon up 7-2 on an old-fashioned 3-point play by Eric Robertson. From there, the Cyclones went on a 10-0 run. ISU broke open a large advantage in the second half, relying on the long ball. The Cyclones poured in their first four attempts from 3-point range of the half, with Mitrou-Long’s sixth 3-ball of the game giving the Cyclones a 23-point lead at 60-37.
