Polizzi joins Catamount football staff

Head football coach Mark Speir announced today that Chris Polizzi is joining his coaching staff to work in the defensive secondary with the cornerbacks.

Polizzi joins the Catamount staff from the University of Iowa, where he spent the past three years as a graduate assistant coach with the Hawkeye defense.

"Chris has a lot of experience both as a player and a coach at several different levels and institutions that will help our corners fit with our defensive scheme," said Speir. "He's learned from some good defensive coaches and I look forward to him being on our defensive coaching staff."

At Western, Polizzi will work with current defensive backs coach, LaMar Morgan, who concentrates on the secondary.

Polizzi was a four-year starting cornerback for Lake Forest (Illinois) College from 2001-04. He graduated in 2005 with a degree in communications and later earned a master's degree in special education from Central Methodist in 2007. He most recently continued graduate work at Iowa in sport management.
