Jeremy Null was named today the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week from Collegiate Baseball following his performance in the 2014 season-opening victory over No. 2 Mississippi State. Along with the national award, the Southern Conference also named Null the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Null lived up to his preseason billing as the Southern Conference's Preseason Pitcher of the Year, by dominating No. 2 Mississippi State on the road at Dudy Noble Field. Null struck out 12 Bulldogs, allowing just three hits and one walk - with no runs - in eight innings.
This was Nulls third National Player of the Week honor from Collegiate Baseball and the second SoCon Pitcher of the Week honors.
Career: Through his first two seasons, Null has 172 career strikeouts to rank 20th in WCU's career record book ... Enters his junior season just 42 K's shy of WCU's all-time top 10 and is poised to make a run at the program's top five ... Null has thrown 164.0 career innings through 31 appearances, 28 of which have come in a starting role.
