Cats shut out Winthrop, 8-0

The Catamounts broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fifth, with a five-run inning. The first two runs were charged to the Eagle's Josh Strong who left the game with the bases loaded. The first run scored when WCU's  Bradley Strong was hit by a pitch from reliever Michael Gilroy to force in the first run. Cody Jones then lined a double down the right field line that scored two more runs. The final two runs of the inning scored on a passed ball and a sacrifice fly.

Western Carolina has now won 13 out of 16 games in their overall series with Winthrop and is 7-1 at Hennon Stadium against the Eagles.

The Catamounts evened their record with the win to 2-2, while the Eagles fall to 2-1 overall.
