Sigmon named Special Teams Player of the Week

The Southern Conference joined SouthernPigskins.com in naming Richard Sigmon as the football Special Teams Player of the Week it was announced by the conference today. 

Junior kicker Richard Sigmon connected on two field goal attempts, including the game-winner in overtime, as Western Carolina topped Elon, 27-24.

Sigmon booted a 39-yard kick in the extra session to give the Catamounts the victory. Western Carolina scored a touchdown with nine seconds left in regulation and Sigmon converted the extra point to tie the contest at 24.  In addition to making both field goal attempts and three PATs, the Mount Holly, N.C., native averaged 43.5 yards on four punts, including a long of 53.

Once again Purple & Gold congratulates Richard on both these honors.
