Looking at Game 12, Appalachian State

Who: Appalachian State Mountaineers

When: Saturday, November 23rd

Where: Kidd Brewer Stadium, Boone, NC

Series history: This will be the final regular season game in the Battle for the Old Mountain Jug between the Catamounts and Mountaineers, and might well be the final game between the two on the football field for quite some time.  WCU trails 18-58-1 in the series with the Mountaineers, losing the last 7 straight games.  Last season's loss to the Mountaineers was by a final score of 27-38.

Their conference: Southern Conference (SoCon)

Their coach:  Scott Satterfield - Satterfield enters his first season as head coach, replacing Jerry Moore who was fired at the end of last season.

Offense: Multiple Spread

Defense: 3-4

Lettermen Returning / Lost: 39 / 17

Offensive starters Returning/Lost: 10 / 1

Defensive starters Returning/Lost: 6 / 5

2012 Stats:
Points per game: 32.9
Rushing Yardage: 2043 - Avg. per game: 170.2
Passing Yardage: 3525 - Avg. per game: 293.8
Total Yardage Per Game: 464.0

Their 2012 Record:  The Mountaineers were 8-4 overall in 2012 and 6-2 in the SoCon which was good enough for a first place tie with Georgia Southern

Strengths: The Mountaineer offense returns 10 of 11 starters from 2012.

Weaknesses/Losses: A new head coach, replacing the legendary Jerry Moore will roam the ASU sidlines, however, new HC Satterfield is not a stranger to ASU football, as he as 17 years as a player and coach at App State, but, he's unproven as a head coach.  Appy lost 5 starters off their defense from last season, RB Steven Miller, LB Brandon Grier, LB Jeremy Kimbrough, S Troy Sanders, CB Jamill Lott, CB Demetrius McCray
