28 Days 'till kickoff - #28 Ace Clark

It's now 28 days until kickoff of Catamount football at Floyd Stadium, home of the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State on August 29th in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

To help pass those long summer days until football season starts, and hopefully get the Catamount faithful more excited about the upcoming season, we'll continue with the 100 day football countdown to kickoff.

#28 Ace Clark

2012 (Redshirt Sophomore): Started eight of the 10 games in which he saw action ... Ranked fourth on the team with 88 tackles including 42 solo stops and two tackles for loss ... Was tied for second on the team with two interceptions ... Came away with WCU's first pick of the season - and the first of his career - in the fourth quarter of the home win over Mars Hill ... Also intercepted a pass against Samford in conference play ... Additionally credited with four pass break-ups on the year ... Recorded double-digit tackles in three games on the season including a career-high 20 against Chattanooga which saw the DB post 12 solo stops ... Recorded five tackles and broke up a pass play during WCU's annual Spring Game.

2011 (Redshirt Freshman): Played in all 11 games with 10 starts in the defensive secondary ... Ranked second on the team with 90 total tackles including tying for the team-lead with 50 solo stops ... His 90 stops ranked eighth in the final Southern Conference standings ... Named to the 2011 Southern Conference All-Freshman team ... Tallied six-or-more tackles in every game ... Credited with half a tackle for loss against nationally-ranked Appalachian State, while also recovering a fumble in the home opener against Mars Hill ... Broke up three passes ... Named the team's defensive player of the week after his 11-tackle performance at The Citadel ... Posted a career-high with 13 total tackles against Appalachian State, making a career-best seven solo stops ... Recorded a team-high 11 tackles in WCU's annual Spring Game.

2010 (Freshman): Did not see game action, taking a redshirt ... Recorded an interception in the defensive secondary in the short scrimmage segment of the team's final spring practice.

Prior to Western: Was a two-time All-Montgomery County 3-A selection in two seasons on the gridiron for head coach Larry Hurd, Jr. ... Combined for 155 total tackles in his junior and senior seasons including a career-best 84 total hits in his final season garnering him All-County and All-Region accolades ... Made 13 interceptions as a defensive back ... Also caught 26 passes for 400 yards and four touchdowns in this final year as a prep ... In addition to football, also played baseball, basketball and ran track.

Personal: Is the son of Anthony, Sr., and Corliss Clark ... Was born in Washington, D.C. ... Has one sibling, Courtney ... His father played collegiate football at Jacksonville State in Alabama and six years of semi-professional football for the North Georgia Cougars ... His mother ran track as a collegiate also at Jacksonville State where she was a national finalist in the 400-meter hurdles.
