9-Run Two-Out Rally Dooms Cats

Tennessee's 10 batters reaching base with two outs on 9 hits in the third inning propelled the Vols over Western Carolina, 10-5, on Wednesday night at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Vols exploded in the third inning, scoring nine runs, all with two outs, on nine hits and two HBPs, after the Catamounts had rushed ahead with a big inning of their own and led 5-0 in the top of the second inning.

At that point, Tennessee freshman Trevor Charpie came out of the bullpen and put up six shutout innings of relief that improved his record to 2-0 on the year.
