Baseball: Cats slam GSU 12-4

Western Carolina pounded out a dozen hits and capitalized on Georgia Southern errors to win the opener of the three-game SoCon series at Hennon Stadium by a score of 12-4.   Matt Benedict turned in a solid starting performance to pickup the win. Georgia Southern's undefeaded starter Chris Beck (5-1) was pounded with his first loss of the season, allowing 10 runs on 10 hits. Game two of the series is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.
