"I was really pleased with how our guys absorbed a lot of information in a short period of time," WCU coach Larry Hunter told the Asheville Citizen-Times during post-game interviews. "(Samford) is much different than playing some other teams. We executed pretty well at both ends of the court and had a lot of energy for coming off a short turnaround."

Samford likewise shot well from the field, making half of its shot attempts - the difference coming in the sheer numbers as WCU was 37-of-67 while the Bulldogs were just 23-of-46, a difference of 21 shot attempts.
