CLEMSON, S.C. - Western Carolina finished their first indoor meet of the year in the Clemson Invitational Saturday with 15 top-5 finishes. Junior Felisha Garren and senior Shaylyn McMichael led the way on the women’s side finishing 1-2 in the 400m event. Their times were 58.02 and 58.78 respectively.
Jane’t Carothers finished one tenth of a second off the tied leaders with a time of 25.12 to log a third place finish in the 200m.
On the men’s side, Garrett West picked up his first victory of the new year in the mile run with a time of 4:25.33. The men’s distance runners continued with their success as the Distance Medley team came away with a first place finish with a time of 10:12.77. Josey Weaver completed the 3000m in 8:39:36, good enough for third place. In the 5000m, Tyler Dunn (16:06.20) and Chase Fisher (16:17.48) picked up second and fourth place.
