WCU Player of the Game - at The Citadel

Purple & Gold's Player of the Game is Onno Steger 



Onno Steger scored a Catamount game-high 25 points in the win over the Citadel in the Ramsey Center.  Steger hit 8 of 12 field goal attempts, hitting 6 of nine from three-point range and three of four from the charity stripe. Steger pulled down 5 rebounds and 4 assists. 


Purple & Gold congratulates Onno Steger on his accomplishments in the Citadel game.

SoCon Basketball - Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019

Only four games on the schedule for Thursday,  Samford, and Chattanooga have the night off. The premier game of the night has #2 UNCG traveling to Travelers Rest, SC to play #3 Furman. The Spartans will be looking to sweep the Paladins, but Furman is 11-1 in Timmons this year. The Cats start a two-game homestand Thursday, hosting Mercer then VMI on Saturday.

THE WINNER?: Western Carolina had a remarkable haul, especially down the stretch. Furman and Mercer also had highly ranked classes nationally. 

THE UPSTARTS?: Western Carolina again.

HOTTEST IN JANUARY?: The busiest were WCU, Furman and The Citadel. One can tell they played the waiting game to check what they should go after this month. They've been very active and one has to think that will continue into next week.
