Game #17: Chattanooga

Day: Thursday
Date: January 14, 2016
Location: Chattanooga, TN (McKenzie Arena)
Time: 7:00 p.m. EST
TV / Video: SoCon Digital Network
Radio: Catamount Sports Network (Gary Ayers and Daniel Hooker)

Game Notes:  Western Carolina   -   Chattanooga

The Series: The series tipped off in 1969, and the Cats are 23-61 in games with the Mocs, and a very pitiful 3-24 in games played in Chattanooga. UTC is 400-110 in their 33rd season in the Roundhouse, and 210-58 in SoCon contests. The Cats last won in Chattanooga in 2013. Last season, the two teams split, each winning on their home court.

On Thursday, the Cats travel to one of the most difficult places in the Southern Conference for the Catamounts to pick up a win. That place is the McKenzie Arena, on the campus of the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga.  To make this even more difficult, the Mocs are 6-0 on their home court in the Roundhouse, while the Cats bring a 0-8 road game record to preseason favorite, Chattanooga. The Mocs are No. 10 in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.

The Mocs are 14-3 overall, and 3-1 in conference play. Chattanooga has wins over The Citadel, Mercer and Wofford, with their lone loss to the Furman Paladins. The Mocs are averaging 76.4 points per game, good enough for 3d place in the SoCon, while they are holding opponents 67.4 ppg.  Chattanooga leads the SoCon in both field goal percentages (46.9%) and 3-point FG percentages (38%). Individually, the Mocs have two players averaging in double figures, led by Greg Pryor with 14 point per game and Tre' McLean with 13 points per game
