The Series: The Catamounts are 1-1 against the Eagles from the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), having lost to the Eagles on the road (78-93), and won at home (70-68), with both game coming during the 1983 season.

Sunday's game against the Morehead State Eagles, continues Western's play in the Gotham Classic (1-1), with games at Morehead State and Pittsburgh remaining.  The Eagles only Gotham Classic game to this point was against Pittsburg, in a losing effort 72-62 and will play at Eastern Washington prior to the Western Game.

The Eagles are currently 5-3 on the season, and are 3-0 at home and 2-3 on the road. They are averaging 68 points per game (8th in the OVC), and giving up only 61.4 ppg (2d in the OVC).  As a team, the Eagles are making 69% of their free throws and are hitting 35% from three-point range (5.6 per game).  Only Corban Collins is currently scoring in double figures, at 11.8 points per game, however Xavier Moon is averaging 9 point per game. Dejuan Marrero is the leading rebounder with 7.1 rebounds per game.

The Eagles are ranked 23rd in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 61.4 points per game and are averaging 9.0 steals per game, which ranks 18th in the country. Nine Eagles have at least six steals on the season, led by DeJuan Marrero’s 13. The Eagles had a season high 15 steals against Coastal Carolina and 13 in the win over Marshall. They are averaging 8.5 fast break points per game, while giving up just 4.9 fast break points.
